Legal stuff

Welcome to the most boring page of the blog (I hope). Here you can find information about important topics: Advertisement Disclaimer, Terms & Conditions, Copyright Notice, Cookie Policy, and Privacy Policy. All of it in beautiful large print for your enjoyment.

Advertisement Disclaimer

This blog accepts some forms of advertising, including sponsorship and product placement. Advertisements are used to improve the blog and to offset the costs of running it. Some of the regular costs include domains (borealabode.comborealabode.co.uk and styl.tips), monthly hosting, and social media/promotion managing tools.

I’m not a full-time blogger. But I just want the blog to be financially self-sufficient by allowing advertisements. And because the blog is technically a kind of part-time business, I pay tax every year from the earnings.

My transparent ad policy

The majority of the blogs I admire and look up to use some form of advertising. I just want to be crystal clear in regards to it. That’s why I strictly follow the guidance from the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). No tricks. No hiding.

Read below to discover how I make sure the best advertising practices are applied. My transparent ad policy benefits the readers, the blog’s integrity and the brands’ reputation. And now with the juicy details…

The owner

Boreal Abode is a blog written and edited by me, Juan Sandiego. If you have any questions about this blog, please use the contact page. Feel free to follow the blog’s updates on the social media sites displayed on the navigation bar above. You can also subscribe to the monthly newsletter.

Advertisement methods

Sponsored content and product placement

Occasionally, I get compensation to give my opinion on products or services. I may also get compensation to feature products in my interior photographs across the blog and social media. Even though I receive compensation for the posts, I always give my honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences.

Brands have no editorial control over the content of my sponsored posts. Most of the time, I recommend products that I already own from brands I love. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled at the beginning of the article, and it includes a link to this disclaimer.

Advertisement features

Please note that Boreal Abode does not allow advertisement features or advertorials. The main difference is that, as opposed to sponsored posts, the content of ad features is controlled and pre-approved by the brand.

Affiliate links and display advertising

There are no affiliate advertising links in the blog, newsletter or social media posts. It is something I considered at some point, but I don’t have the time.

Similarly, there are no traditional image or text-based advertisements. This is to improve the blog loading speed.
